Daniel Buren

A major artist on the international scene, Daniel Buren has been developing a radical body of work since the 1960s, characterized by the use of his "visual tool" (alternately white and colored vertical strips 8.7 cm wide). He has moved on from working on painting (1965-1967) to working on space and its context. All his works are now conceived according to the particularities of their site, and are created in situ, in public spaces as well as in museums and art galleries.
