Saskia Sassen

Sociologist, professor at Columbia University, Saskia Sassen is a specialist of globalization, migrations and the sociology of the world’s largest cities, via her concept of a “global city.” Her latest book Expulsions (2014) includes her controversial chapter “Dead Land Dead Water.” In her current project she positions urban space as one of the strategic scales for implementing sustainable strategies.
