STREAM VOICES 06

In coping with environmental challenges, cities form complex dynamic systems, similar to living bodies. The “urban metabolism” forms the theoretical framework we use to embrace this contemporary and organic approach to cities. In order to make them sustainable, inclusive, and desirable, we must mobilize:

— New forms of knowledge, explored through architectural research into the issues around built systems and low-carbon, programming uses, the relationship to nature, and urban data.
— New imaginaries and new representations, deployed by artists and emerging schools of thought.
— New methodologies, generated by synergies of knowledge aimed at inventing innovative governance processes.
