Architect, Dan Pitera is director of the School of Architecture of the University of Detroit Mercy, also the director of the Detroit Future City project, which promotes grassroots initiatives and experimentation. He advocates a dense city in terms of the complexity and intensity of human interactions. His hybrid work is between research and practice in the field, and leads him to design forms of “participatory planning.”
