Jérôme Denis

Jérôme Denis is a research professor at the Centre de sociologie de l'innovation at the Ecole des Mines. He conducts investigations on the invisible work of data in various sectors (city management, autonomous vehicles, open data, citizen participation, etc.). In particular, he studies the production, transformation and maintenance of data behind the scenes of their circulation and use. He has recently written on cycling infrastructures. With David Pontille, he is also developing a research program on repair and maintenance activities, particularly in urban environments. He is the co-founder of the blog scriptopolis.

The invisible labor of Data and Men

Jérôme Denis is a research professor at the Center for the Sociology of Innovation at Mines ParisTech. He examines the invisible work required by data processing (including in urban contexts), as well as on an approach to maintenance grounded in care. The focus afforded to material fragility, far from stabilizing the condition of objects, becomes inextricably involved in their future.
