Nicolas Bourriaud is an art historian, art critic, theorist and curator. He co-founded the Palais de Tokyo in Paris and directed it from 1999 to 2006. He is currently leading the future MoCo (Montpellier Contemporain), an ambitious art center project in three locations in Montpellier, in the South West of France.
Nicolas Bourriaud rejects the institutions located in “logo building”, like the Guggenheim Bilbao. In the course of this interview, he develops the principles on which he conceives a new institution, which must meet both the requirements of its territory and its time.
