To mark Milan Design Week, PCA-STREAM presents designer Julia Daka, co-founder of the SADAKA studio and the CAUSE association, who has been in residence at the agency for over a year. Her work lies at the intersection of fashion, art, architecture and design, drawing inspiration from Swahili and Creole cultures. In this interview, she reflects on the challenge of carving out a place for herself in an environment that remains largely male-dominated and Eurocentric, and presents her collection Liminal, which weaves together material legacies from Africa, the Caribbean and Europe. Her presence and her exchanges with our teams are part of our agency’s distinctive approach, which involves drawing on other practices and other imaginaries in order to shift our working methods and broaden our design frameworks.
