PCA-STREAM is conducting the heavy restructuring of a real estate complex designed in the 1960s, tackling the obsolescence of an architecture that offers low-quality spaces in light of the new expectations of businesses. The façade is modernized and realigned on Rue de Penthièvre, and a new wing is formed at the end of the parcel, opening on a vast garden at the heart of the block. The intervention combines densification and the upgrading of workspaces, which are equipped with sunny, green terraces.
A haute-couture spirit
On Rue de Penthièvre, PCA-STREAM is carrying out the major restructuring of a 1960s commercial complex. The facade was modernized, and a wing opening onto a vast garden in the heart of the block was added. The project combines densification and qualitative improvement of workspaces, enhanced by planted terraces. The tenant, a French luxury brand, entrusted the interior design department with the complementary task of designing the public spaces and offices, along with the creation of a laboratory and a company restaurant.
The overall spirit is that of a high-end, made-to-measure and functional project, inspired by the imaginary world of travel, emphasizing the relationship with the earth, wood and nature. The base and communal areas are designed in hotel style, while the warm, comfortable offices emphasize the clarity of the space, the quality of the light and the comfort of the materials. The dialogue between the interior and the terraces is reinforced by the continuity of materials and the proximity of colors, with functions continuing on both sides. The identity of the spaces is defined by the use of earth tones for the common areas, followed by a color for each floor in the fixtures and fittings, murals, tiling and glazing. A system of linen blinds and colored lines on the windows provides privacy and orientation for users.
A tailor-made layout system
Within the offices, a tailor-made construction system is designed to equip, organize and delimit spaces. Based on solid wood assemblies from a limited number of elements, it can be used to create partitions, top and bottom layouts, “écrimurs” or acoustic panels. This modular system can be easily recomposed, with a single tool, to evolve with user needs, without obsolescence. It is made of solid wood from French forests and manufactured in France. The shelves are designed to be used in an office context, but also in retail, to display and showcase products. The system’s principles and materials are applied to custom-made benchs and storage units, to ensure a harmonious aesthetic finish.
A showcase for materials
The Hight identity is based on the use of rich, natural materials, with all the know-how that implies. These include solid wood, enamelled lava, decommissioned leather, felt and wool carpets… The interiors department has done a great deal of work on sourcing these materials, chosen from France and bordering Europe. Within this framework of local sourcing, the selection of suppliers has been refined according to environmental, social and ethical criteria. The made-to-measure carpets were created in collaboration with the Manufacture des Tapis de Bourgogne, while the oak parquet flooring was supplied by the Manufacture des Tapis de Bourgogne.
A responsible restaurant
The cluster was also asked to come up with a concept for the company restaurant, featuring healthy, tasty steam cooking, chosen for its ability to limit equipment and energy requirements compared with a conventional installation. The restaurant opens directly onto the garden and its terrace, for al fresco dining in fine weather. The room is organized into sub-areas, ranging from the semi-private dining room to the table d’hôtes, with open alcoves separated by acoustic leather screens. The room itself is modular, to accommodate large-scale events or meetings. During the day, the space serves as an informal coworking café, as close to nature as possible, with the kitchen equipment hidden from view when not in use.
